چکیده
A fast and low-cost analytical method to determine the concentrations of carotenoids (β-carotene, lutein, lycopene) from mixed standard solutions or fruit extracts (kiwi fruits, tomato paste, pink grapefruit juice, kiwi-pineapple smoothie, apricot nectar) was tested. The methodology based on UV-Vis spectrophotometry Multivariate Curve Resolution-Alternating Least Squares (MCR-ALS). Results showed that relative β-carotene, lycopene in solvent were successfully determined by this technique with an error inferior 6%. In real extracts, procedure succeeded well identifying major carotenoid type samples but also a more complex profile mixture. results accuracy determination spectrophotometry-MCR-ALS conditioned their spectral characteristics (III/II ratios λmax), proportion, extract purity.

Application of multivariate curve resolution alternating least squares (MCR-ALS), for the resolution and quantification of different analytes in different type of pharmaceutical and agricultural samples is shown. In particular, MCR-ALS is applied first to the UV spectrophotometric quantitative analysis of mixtures of commercial steroid drugs, and second to the near-infrared (NIR) spectrophotome...
متن کاملQuantitative Determination of Formaldehyde by Spectrophotometry Utilizing Multivariate Curve Resolution Alternating Least Squares
Formaldehyde is a vastly used material in industry. Nowadays, it is proven that formaldehyde is toxic and carcinogenic. Thus providing a reliable method for its quantitative determination is very important. This study proposes a UV-Vis spectrophotometric based method for determination of formaldehyde. The method is based on reaction between the analyte and Fluoral P. Spectral changes during the...

Piet Mondrian’s Broadway Boogie Woogie (1942–1943) was examined using Macro X-Ray Fluorescence mapping (MA-XRF) to help characterize the artist’s materials and understand his creative process as well as the current condition issues of the painting. The presence and distribution of key chemical elements was used to identify the main pigments in the different paint layers and under-layers, namely...
متن کامل1H NMR metabolomic study of auxotrophic starvation in yeast using Multivariate Curve Resolution-Alternating Least Squares for Pathway Analysis
Disruption of specific metabolic pathways constitutes the mode of action of many known toxicants and it is responsible for the adverse phenotypes associated to human genetic defects. Conversely, many industrial applications rely on metabolic alterations of diverse microorganisms, whereas many therapeutic drugs aim to selectively disrupt pathogens' metabolism. In this work we analyzed metabolic ...
